Poem of the Week

Father and Son

October 18, 2010

The corporal who’s seen combat,
whose hands now wield a weapon,
once weighed less than his ruck
and rode on my shoulders,
warming my winter cold ears
with gentle, affectionate hands.
We were both much younger then.
We are both much older now.
