Poem of the Week

Here And There

August 2, 2010

Another day has gone, it’s done Gone with the setting of the sun

Many miles, so far away In hours it seems another day
He’s a soldier come what may He does his part the soldier way
Phone calls, emails, MSN chat Communication, well, it’s that
Work’s not a topic we discuss He says he’d rather hear ’bout us
Our kids and I, are we OK? Can he help in any way?
Even though so far apart Pitter patter goes my heart
To think he still worries from over there How’s his family and how we fare
My love for him it grows and grows I truly hope he really knows
How proud I am to be his wife To share with him this army life
His job is tough; it’s what he does Soldier on in life because
The pride, the joy, the helping hand Ready to go upon demand
So when he says he’s got to go It’s for sure this much I know
Keep the home fires burning, keep the lamps lit I’ll do my part; I’ll do my bit
When he returns and all is well We’ll both have so much to tell
It’s what counts, the here and now We always make it through somehow

Day in, day out, one then another He’s my life, now and forever!
