Poem of the Week

My heart hangs at half mass

July 5, 2010

My heart hangs at half mass.

My heart hangs at half mast
For all the souls that couldn’t find their way home
Lost in desperation, looking for a way out
Who can no longer see the shining bright light

My heart hangs at half mast
For the soldiers that struggle to live day to day
For all the soldiers that want help but it is just too hard
For the men and woman that lost the fight

My heart hangs at half mast
For all the soldiers that lost their lives overseas
For the life they weren’t able to live
For the goals they will never achieve

My heart hangs at half mast
For the families that aren’t the same
That one piece of the puzzle that makes a family
Will forever be gone

My heart hangs at half mast
For the spouses that try to make everything alright
Knowing there is something wrong
Not knowing how much longer they can fight
Fight for their loved ones and stand by their side

My heart hangs at half mast
Every time I see the flag hanging in middle
Knowing that someone’s kid, husband, wife, sister or brother
Is on their way home to be laid to rest
My heart hangs at half mast

My heart hangs at half mast
